March 26 - April 6, 2009 A ~11 day birding trip with brother Rich and the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society, visiting some of the best birding locations in Costa Rica. We started in San Jose, then stayed 1 night in the Pacific transition zone near Carara National Park, 2 nights further north in the shadow of Arenal Volcano, 3 nights at Selva Verde on the lower Carribean slope, and 3 nights in the highlands at Savegre Mountain Lodge. The group spotted 323 species total, with great sightings of many of the target species. I added 199 new life birds and 121 new bird photo species. |
